You should be able to remove the cover of the porch light and remove the bulb - I believe these were screw in bulbs - and get the size from the bulb - or try to match the bulb in an auto parts store. There are likely LED replacements for it now and there should certainly be incandescent. The bulb must be a 12 volt bulb. Putting a small screwdriver on the slot and using that to help works inside but it is very precarious in terms of breaking the cover. Have you put a meter on the wires that go to the switch and then on the switch poles itself - in the on and off positions with the wires attached to make sure power is going through? Does the inside of the light cover look dry? Could water have gotten in which would kill the bulb? Since you are in Arizona I assume that it is warm while you are trying to get the cover off - I would not attempt it in the cold. You might try getting a hair dryer and warming it up even more around the point of the tabs and then trying to get it off. Don't melt it! When I have found something in the Roadtrek that just gets to the point that no matter what I try it does not happen - I take it to the dealer. With a 2015 you are under warranty - and since you have the part - they should fix this. No longer "clicks"., RT sent a replacement, but it was the wrong part; they then sent the Right part. Click, NO LIGHT.,..have verified poles are connected correctly, but can't imagine the light bulb and switch failed at same time. QUESTION: Does ANYONE know how to remove the Porch Light? There are "tabs" on the exterior that are immovable and threaten to crack with any type of pressure...there is a tab on TOP of the fixture, it also refuses to move...HELP..anyone?..thanks, Jim B., Sedona, AZAnonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17668974109053589340noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801217063323814316.post-35296624186081980422016-09-24T17:51:16.232-04:002016-09-24T17:51:16.232-04:00As I show in the article above, the original bulb ...As I show in the article above, the original bulb is a 12 volt G4 10 watt bulb. It is not a surprise that a 20 watt Halogen bulb would melt the fixture as halogen bulbs get very, very hot when they are on and with the reflector in the fixture would concentrate all that heat into the dome. There are - as I show above also - LED replacements for the 10 watt halogen 12 volt bulb. There are some LED G4s that have prongs on the base that are too long for this fixture and those who have found this have clipped a little off the prongs - using an original bulb as a guide. This same bulb is used in several fixtures of the Roadtrek so you can always get to one to use for this. I have found that 12 volt bulbs are often found with low voltage garden lighting and this was where I found the 10 watt halogen exact replacement in Home Depot that I show above. Since installing the LED bulb in the fixture I find that it gives noticeably less light than the halogen bulb in the fixture right across from it. To REPLACE THE LAMP - look at the fourth article photo from the top. There are four Robertson screws (square head)inside the open fixture. Turn OFF the battery switch - do not be plugged in or running the generator when you do this - remove those screws and the fixture SHOULD be able to come down - take it down gently - and remove the screws gently - as we don't know what they are screwed into. The wiring should be there and it would be a swamp of fixtures from old to new. Where to get the fixture? Roadtrek should have them and you would need to order it from Roadtrek through a Roadtrek dealer/service center. Roadtrek will not take parts orders directly. The dealer/service will get the part for you and you might arrange with them for Roadtrek to ship it to you directly. If you need a set of Robertson screwdriver bits, Harbor Friehgt stores and online sells one that is inexpensive. Every screw in a Roadtrek is a Robertson screw and it is worth having a set of bits and a regular screwdriver bit handle. I then found a 20-watt G4 halogen bulb at a Bi-Mart auto parts section. This wattage must have been too high, because it melted the plastic housing around it. I did not know what wattage the original bulb had. So now I have to replace the whole lamp. Any suggestion on how to remove the existing lamp?Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10903799666408481664noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8801217063323814316.post-10901772759247303122016-02-03T00:24:18.108-05:002016-02-03T00:24:18.108-05:00It's easy enough to use a 2w LED in place of a...It's easy enough to use a 2w LED in place of a 10w halogen G4 and get more light. Also, there is now a choice of color tone with the LED bulbs. It is still much cooler, though LEDs do put off some heat.
